Culture In Kingston

Welcome to our heritage podcast ‘Culture in Kingston’, created by Kingston Museum’s Young People’s Collective. This series of 12 episodes takes you on a virtual tour of historical locations throughout Kingston, with directions and descriptions so you can follow along on a walking tour.

Join us as we visit the Lovekyn Chapel, Kingston Museum, John Lewis’ undercroft, Kingston History Centre, the Eden Street Mural, Coronation Stone, and Cleave’s Almshouses. We also travel over Clattern Bridge, through Kingston’s ancient marketplace, past the ‘Out of Order’ phone boxes, All Saints Church, and Kingston’s former aircraft factories. We discuss how people have used these places in the past and how much has changed throughout the years. Many of these places contain histories that might surprise you!

Each episode was researched, written, recorded and produced remotely by our Young People’s Collective over the course of 2020, with a new episode released every Friday afternoon from January to March 2021.
